St Luke's Church, Wellington.

St Luke’s Church is a group of people travelling together to discover and experience more and more of God. We are a varied congregation who care for one another, and we welcome anyone who wishes to join in on the journey together.

Our services tend to be relaxed and encouraging. The young people are included in worshipping alongside the adults each week for the first part of the service. There is Sunday School provision every week.

We are practical people and so we try to reflect on our whole lives in the light of God’s word and prayer. We experience God speaking to us through the normality of life, whilst sometimes breaking through in extraordinary ways.

Our aim is to demonstrate the link between the practical and the spiritual of our church life

Development of Worship

  • To develop more people in being involved in worship – of all ages, gender etc.
  •  To develop the worship area and to look at installing a permanent projector & screen

Children in the Church

  •  To organise more leaders for the Sunday School (@10-15 children per week)
  •   To develop the building to increase and improve the space for young people

Youth Work

  • To build the young people's work across the team

Church in the community

  • To prayer walk around the area at least once per month
  •  To develop ways of supporting members in their lives and relationships as Christ’s people.

St Luke’s church is a place for people who want to know that Jesus is with them in their lives yesterday, today and for ever.

    Church Postcode is: ST1 3PX

To find us from the A53 - Bucknall New Road: Look for Hanley St Luke's School on the main road and head down Wellington Road that runs down the side of the school among the terraced houses.
At the bottom of Wellington Road, turn right onto Waterloo Street, then turn right up Wellington Street - you will see the Church towards the top of the road on its own land.
Parking is limited in this area due to residential schemes that operate. The usual entrance into church is on St Luke's Street.

  • St Luke's School:
We have very close links with our church school, Hanley St Luke's C of E Aided School. Reverend Christine and members of the team are well known and recognised figures in and around the school, both from serving on the Governors and from involvement in Collective Worship and lessons. The school has a strong Christian ethos that is nourished by these close links, and the worshipping life of the church is enriched by the children and families of the school.
